Sick, Sicker, The Human Centipede

It shouldn’t surprise you that director Tom Six picked Germany to serve as a platform for the most twisted, but in it’s own weird way entertaining shocker. Ever since the Hitler era, Americans still secretly assume, that there is a little coldblooded sadist in every German, waiting to be unleashed. Despite the fact, that the little mustache wearing angry man was Austrian. Nevertheless, the storyline of The Human Centipede either grabs you or serves as a warning to quickly eject the DVD as long as you can.

Psychopathic Doctor Heiter, played by German actor Dieter Laser, can’t wait to make the sickest fantasy known to mankind come true. He wants to create the unsexiest “ménage à trois” you could possibly imagine. We could really go into details and spill the beans, but it would take the “fun” away. That’s if you are a fan of hardcore horror and a unexpected, disturbing finale, that leaves you wondering, whether you could actually handle a sequel. Dare to watch!

America, the Beautiful?

If those days really ever existed, then they are long gone. Thanks to the dream factory called Hollywood, the whole world use to and in some corners still looks at the United States Of America as the land of milk and honey, the land of opportunity and sometimes even as the land where people unite.

But as soon as you scratch the surface or actually take the time out to get involved in average peoples lives, you’ll find what blockbusters don’t address – the misery of every day life in America. The elderly or mentally disturbed, trying to cure themselves, due to health insurance being unaffordable. People are afraid to walk down the street or catch the train, because the crime rate is so high. War veterans in wheel chairs, who have never received their promised mental and financial aid, after risking their lives for their country. And let’s not forget about what’s been holding America back for the longest – RACISM!

Apartheid, a word that sounds to Europeans as a tale from the Dark Age, is still sad reality in the USA. Until this day, the majority of America chooses to stay amongst “their own race” and many neighborhoods are still separated by race. Parents of all descent brainwash their children already at a young age, that “the other race” is difficult to deal with, not realizing how much damage they are causing with their small minded prejudice. Kids are being robbed of their opinion and view of the world, based on their own experience. It’s even to a point, where a mixed child is forced to choose sides, because in the eyes of some ignorant people, you can’t embrace both races.

Last but not least, let’s talk about stereotypes. Let’s face it, the majority of America can’t deal with people, they somehow can’t categorize. The brain of backwoods folks – and there is more of them, than you can imagine – still works in witless ways. They still associate dark skin with gang member, ghetto, bad credit and disrespect, while a white person is being looked at as a wealthy, nerdish racist.

And the most depressing fact of them all is, that not even a mixed president was able to bring the mental change we all hoped for. Yes, even Barack Obama is not allowed to be what he really is, the terminator of stereotypical thinking and the beautiful product of two people, who overcame racial boundaries.

We still tip our hats to you, Mr. President! You’ve tried.
